Spey casting is is a fly fishing technique that was first used on the River Spey in Scotland dating back to the early 1800’s to catch elusive Atlantic Salmon. This type of casting is distinct from traditional fly casting in that it does not incorporate a back-cast which allows anglers to make more efficient use of space and limited back-casting room. It has developed into a specialized type of fly casting allowing anglers to cast further and cover larger areas than traditional fly casting.
