1st Annual June Fishing Derby *POSTPONED*
We have decided to postpone the fishing derby until the wildfires in Nova Scotia are under control.
Free Fishing, Free Food, Free Fun!
The ARA is hosting its first annual June fishing derby on the free fishing weekend (June 4th). No fishing license required, just bring your rod, bait, family and friends to enjoy the peaceful Cameron Lake in Pinevale, Antigonish County. We will be providing hotdogs, hamburgers and water as well as some fishing rods to borrow. The Cameron Lake Accessible Recreation Site was completed by ARA in the Fall of 2022. ARA understands how important it is to create spaces for everyone in our community to enjoy, regardless of differing physical capabilities and that is what we kept in mind during the planning and construction of the barrier-free site.
We will be posting signage for those who are not overly familiar with the area to ensure that everyone gets to the lake easily. As the parking area can only accommodate a few vehicles, it will be reserved for handicap parking, everyone else can park along one side of the Pinevale Road ensuring not to obstruct traffic movement. We ask that anyone wanting to launch boats do so before 9am as there will be no room to do so after that time. Free registration will begin at 9am, the BBQ will start at 10am and raffle prizes will be passed out near 12:30 and the event will be wrapped up at 1pm, but don’t let that stop you from hanging out at the lake for the rest of the day!
