Canada announced funding yesterday for the National Strategy to Ensure the Future of Atlantic Salmon. $81.7 million over 5 years. It’s a massive step in the right direction at the right time. Wild Atlantic Salmon are struggling in many parts of Canada, and where salmon are thriving investments are needed now to keep it that way.
Yesterday’s announcement from Prime Minister Mark Carney ensures the national strategy will be brought to life and used for good. ASF stands ready to support the strategy and help Canada and Indigenous communities realize the goal of healthy, thriving populations, sustainable fisheries, and serious economic benefits for rural and remote regions of Eastern Canada.
